Utilizing a Delicatessen Catering Service for a Baby Shower

Posted by on in CAMPUS NEWS

You have a baby shower on the calendar that you are hosting very soon and just don’t have the time or capabilities to put a small buffet together for friends and family. Ordering from a local catering service or deli may be the perfect solution to your dilemma. They will have the types and flavors of your favorite delicatessen foods. Some tips to make your event even more perfect and easy include:

Less is More
The array of foods does not have to be extensive. Keep it very simple and serve items such as a salad, sandwich trays with all of the appropriate condiments, fresh fruit, chips, and beverages. This is more than enough to satisfy your guests, especially if your shower is in mid-afternoon. Add bowls of mints and mixed nuts around the area for casual snacking.

Jazz it Up
Transfer the foods you have ordered from the catering service to your own platters and bowls. It will look extra special and everyone will think you put a lot of effort into preparing these dishes. Add more exotic and interesting sandwich and salad condiments of your own such as a wide variety of imported mustard or unique salad dressings. Set it up on a buffet table or counter with real linen and add a fun balloon bouquet or an arrangement of fresh pink or blue mums.

Don’t Forget Dessert!
Order a tray of cookies and/or brownies to go with the cake you have made. Make a separate dessert and beverage station for more impact and better flow. Add a small centerpiece and pink or blue cocktail napkins for even more effect. Beverages could include coffee, tea, lemonade, or even a pink or blue punch. Serve these drinks in your best crystal or glass wine glasses and china coffee cups.

Use Real Dishes
Even though your order may come complete with plastic or paper plates, throw-away flatware, and paper napkins, you can definitely give your buffet a more upscale look by serving everything on real china or stoneware. Cloth napkins in the baby shower colors are also a very nice and elegant touch that guests will not be expecting.

Hosting a baby shower does not have to be difficult. Just call your local delicatessen catering service for the best in foods and service. They will have everything ready for you to make your baby shower the picture of organization and elegance. You can always learn more at the Greensville Gourmet website.
